Help women on dependent visas find clearer career paths in the U.S.

Career Pathway Institute is developing CareerPath, an AI-powered platform that helps dependent visa holders understand career options, immigration-related limits, and practical next steps in the U.S. job market.

About this story

Building a career in the United States can be difficult when immigration status and career planning are connected.

For many women on dependent visas, the challenge is not only finding open roles. It can also mean understanding what they are allowed to do, waiting for work authorization, rebuilding confidence, translating past experience into the U.S. market, and finding meaningful ways to keep growing while their options are limited.

Career Pathway Institute helps international professionals build careers in the United States through experiential learning, community programs, volunteering opportunities, peer cohorts, mentorship, and hands-on guidance.

Since its founding in 2023, CPI has worked directly with immigrants and international professionals, including many women on dependent visas. The organization’s approach is grounded in doing — helping people build experience through real projects, structured volunteering, and community support.

Now CPI is building CareerPath, an AI-powered platform designed for dependent visa holders, including H-4, L-2, F-2, J-2, TD, and O-3 visa holders. The platform will help users better understand how immigration-related rules may affect their career options and find practical next steps that fit their current status.

What this support covers

Your support helps Career Pathway Institute develop CareerPath, an AI-powered career guidance platform for dependent visa holders navigating the U.S. job market.

CareerPath will help users:

  • Understand how new immigration rules and policy changes actually affect their visa status and career options — in plain language, not legal jargon
  • Get personalized weekly plans that respect what they can and cannot do under their current status
  • Find visa-friendly volunteering, learning, and community opportunities matched to their goals
  • Connect with mentors who have walked the same path

Goal: $2,000

Why support is needed now

Immigration policy changes can affect career planning quickly, and dependent visa holders are not always the first to receive clear, practical explanations.

When the H-4 EAD rule came under threat in 2019, many women who had rebuilt careers under that authorization faced years of uncertainty. Some paused plans or left jobs early because they did not know what the next policy cycle would mean for their work authorization.

For many families, information comes through informal chats, legal consultations that can be expensive, or government websites that are difficult to interpret. CareerPath is being built to make that guidance easier to understand and easier to act on.

CPI has spent the last two years working directly with this community. This campaign helps turn that knowledge into accessible, AI-assisted guidance that can support women and other dependent visa holders during the wait — not only after they receive permission to work.

Your support helps make career planning clearer, more practical, and easier to reach for people navigating immigration status and professional growth at the same time.
