About this story

Anastasiia has lived with Kearns–Sayre syndrome since the age of 9. This rare condition, reported in only around 200 people worldwide, can affect the eyes, hearing, muscles, and heart.

Over the years, she has gone through serious cardiac complications, emergency treatment, and multiple major surgeries. Medical devices have helped support her heart, but her condition has also led to the loss of both vision and hearing.

For someone who can no longer rely on sight, hearing becomes a vital way to stay connected, communicate with loved ones, and feel safer in daily life.

Hearing aids could help people like Anastasiia hear familiar voices again, follow conversations, and remain more connected to the world around them.
