Downtown Women’s Center is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization founded in 1978 in Los Angeles. It was the first permanent supportive housing provider for women in the U.S., the first Critical Time Intervention provider in the Western U.S., the first health clinic exclusively serving women in the Skid Row community, and the first drop-in Day Center exclusively serving homeless women in the City of Los Angeles. Today, Downtown Women’s Center manages 159 units of permanent housing across greater Los Angeles and serves more than 5,700 women annually. Its mission is to end homelessness by ensuring safe housing and supportive services centered on wellness, employment, and advocacy.
